Sunday, August 5th – Geilston Gardens

27 Apr

Another public performance by the Viennese Ensemble! We’ll be playing at Geilston Garden on August 5th, 2012 from 2:00 to 4:00 in the walled garden. (thanks Daphne!)

The car park is free, but if you’re not a National Trust for Scotland member, then there’s an entrance fee for the garden: Adult £6, Family £16, 1 Parent £11, Concessions £5.

Bryan and I visited the garden last spring, and it was beautiful! There are hiking trails around it, and a farm next door. I took some pictures (available on Flickr), but I have to admit – city girl that I am – I was more interested in the farm animals as photographic subjects than the very pretty formal gardens.

Geilston Garden is at the west end of Cardross, 18 miles north-west of Glasgow, on the On A814. It’s also easy to take the train. The ½-hourly Glasgow – Helensburgh service calls at Cardross station, 15 minutes’ walk (1 mile) from the Garden.

The second photo below is from the Viennese Ensemble’s performance at the Geilston Gardens last year. We will have a somewhat different line-up this time, and a larger group.
